As part of a strategic end-to-end manufacturing value chain initiative, an enterprise software product was needed to solve a significant operational pain point for B2B field sales agents marketing highly complex, heavy-duty industrial climate control machinery. Field sales agents required a native tablet solution that allowed them to meet commercial building managers directly on location, configure massive infrastructure equipment in real time, calculate instantaneous pricing quotes, and instantly visualize the exact physical footprint of the customized machinery within their actual mechanical rooms. Because industrial climate systems are massive, highly engineered machines with specifications that are opaque to non-specialists, the application faced strict delivery requirements: it had to be mathematically accurate, highly performant on standard tablet hardware, and intuitive enough to serve as a core technological anchor for the company’s executive experience showcase.
Requirement
I was brought onboard to assume ownership of the user experience architecture, layout design, and technical translation. I was tasked with conducting deep industrial domain research, conceptualizing the end-to-end user journeys, wireframing responsive interface layouts optimized for field conditions, and managing the knowledge transfer between the engineering logic and artistic production pipelines to ensure spatial models remained mathematically accurate.

Solution
To build a functional software solution, I began by conducting an extensive deep-dive into manufacturing technical sheets, performance variables, and engineering blueprints to learn how changes in machine scale and tonnage directly dictate the physical size and internal component layouts of the unit. Recognizing that operating large-format tablets in active, cramped industrial environments presents clear physical hazards, I implemented strict UI guardrails to protect sales agents. I explicitly divided the user journey into separate static configuration steps and fixed-point visualization steps, ensuring agents would not walk around active mechanical rooms while interacting with complex digital inputs. Furthermore, I wireframed the layouts specifically for dual-handed tablet ergonomics, mapping all interactive parameters, dropdowns, and toggles into left- and right-side thumb zones to allow seamless single-thumb adjustments while maintaining a secure, two-handed grip on the physical hardware. Looking beyond traditional, dry enterprise software interfaces, I drew layout inspiration from premium consumer product configuration tools, designing smooth, high-fidelity color gradients and responsive 3D visual feedback models that made complex machinery configurations feel intuitive and visually engaging. Finally, I leveraged my hybrid background to translate detailed technical blueprints into actionable tasks for the 3D art team, establishing clear programmatic logic gates that defined exactly which internal components needed to dynamically scale or swap when a sales agent adjusted specific performance values.
Outcome
The finished product successfully bridged the gap between enterprise data structures and spatial visualization, earning its spot as a premier live demonstration piece at the regional executive experience center. The software provided global enterprise leadership with a highly functional, polished blueprint to showcase complex product lines to multi-national industrial clients across the energy, manufacturing, and building infrastructure sectors. By prioritizing ergonomic safety and high-fidelity layouts, the platform accelerated the B2B sales pipeline, drastically reducing the time required to move clients from configuration to finalized pricing quotes.
